“Getting Robbed in Finland Opened My Eyes to the Lies in the ‘World Happiness Report’”

No, Finland is not the “World’s Happiest Country.”
It is not even the happiest country in Europe.
In White Lies: The Shady Truth About the World Happiness Report, an independent investigative series, American journalist Sasha Tobago uncovers the Ugly Truth that the World Happiness Report (WHR) — which touts 4 Nordic nations as the world’s Top 4 “Happiest” countries—is just another illusive and sinister tool of capitalistic narcissists who do not know what True Happiness is or feels like.
Nor how to actually measure it.
Created by the University of Oxford, Gallup and the United Nations, the WHR erroneously defines and measures happiness by the rules, constraints and fallacies of Western capitalism and feudalism. This is problematic because:
Money is man-made; it cannot buy True Happiness and it has nothing to do with True Happiness. Because True Happiness pre-dates the man-made invention of money.
The rules of Western capitalism are also man-made. They were created by narcissists, sociopaths and psychopaths (i.e., the Dark Triad) to try to justify the self-centered stealing and hoarding of land and resources, all while enslaving or exploiting human labor around the globe.
Narcissists lack the empathy and other character traits required to experience True Happiness in Life. So they are not qualified to create or publish an annual report on happiness based on their capitalistic rules, which worship man-made money and materialism; over Love, community and the humanity of All.
Money does’t make you happy. It never did. History will tell you that.
~ Whitney Houston
Year… after year… after year, the so-called “researchers” behind the World Happiness Report use a litany of shady research parameters and methodologies to try and justify crowning Finland and other “pure white” Nordic nations — Denmark, Iceland and Sweden — as the world’s Top 4 “Happiest” countries.
All while conveniently not including negative metrics in their main country-ranking calculations. Like per capita rates of:
Suicide
Unemployment
Substance abuse
Hate crimes and murders
Violence against women and children
Per recent World Health Organization data, Finland has the highest suicide rate in the Nordics. And Europe, as a whole, has the highest suicide rates in the world.
Moreover, Finland has the second highest unemployment rate in Europe; and Sweden has the ninth highest.

In this Robbed in Finland podcast episode, Sasha talks about how getting robbed in Finland, at the Helsinki airport upon arrival, and witnessing the national airport police force go out of their way to protect professional thieves and help them flee…
Opened her journalistic eyes to the depth of police corruption, government corruption; financial scams; domestic violence; substance abuse, suicides, and homeless people digging in airport trash cans happening in the world’s so-called “Happiest Country.”
All of which go under-reported in Finland, because the main media organization, Yle, is state-owned.
Meanwhile, other, smaller Finnish media outlets largely do innocuous fluff pieces. So there is no actual free press serving as the Fourth Estate in that country.

Sasha is a global traveler who has journeyed in dozens of countries spanning six continents. When she visited three Nordic nations in person — Finland, Iceland and Norway — she found many of the locals to be cold, unfriendly, uncaring, and highly individualistic (i.e., unabashedly self-centered).
Especially in comparison to other select cultures around the world that are more melanated, more communal, more friendly, more caring, and more vibrant. So much so that you can feel the genuine happiness and kindness of many of the locals when you visit in person.
In Robbed in Finland, Sasha also shares the lived experience of two American women who journeyed to Gambia and Pakistan, respectively. Where they were treated with such Love and kindness from the locals, they did not want to return home to their materialistic and capitalistic lives in America.
Gambia and Pakistan are two melanated societies that are ranked #117 and #109, respectively, in the World Happiness Report 2025 (out of 147 countries).
Meanwhile, the U.S. is ranked #24.
Oh, and just to show how ludicrous the World Happiness Report’s 2025 country rankings are:
Israel (which is currently committing war crimes) is ranked the 8th Happiest Country in the World.
