Are You Having a Quarter Life Crisis?

Your twenties are a time of fun, adventure, clubbing, dating, ambition and adulting.

Yet, for many young adults who are just a few years out of college, their mid-twenties can also turn into a time of crisis.

“You do all the things society tells you to do…”

Opines one young man on social media. Let’s call him AJ.

“You go to college, you get a good job, you turn around and… you go to work, you go home, you go to work, you go home.
And that’s just a tedious cycle until you retire. And even that’s very unfulfilling. You’re just trying to survive.
It’s like, where is the happiness? Where is the fun? Where is the joy?”

In this episode of my Fascinating with Sasha Tobago podcast, I explain why AJ feels the way he feels; and what he and others like him can do about it. Here’s a revised excerpt:

AJ is in his mid-20s, so the way that he’s feeling is completely normal.

There’s a term for it: Quarter Life Crisis

Around the age of 25 is when you have done many of the things society tells you you’re supposed to do. Like go to college; get a job; get an apartment or buy a condo or buy a house; start saving in your 401k; etc.

It sounds like AJ has done a lot of those things, and he’s bored and feeling unfulfilled.

What he’s feeling is completely normal. Millions of people feel this way around the country and around the world. Of all ages. Including people around that Quarter Life Crisis age range.

So what’s going on here?

What’s going on here is, AJ is starting to slowly wake up to the fact that the life society tells him he should want… he should strive for… he should go after… isn’t providing the happiness that society says he should be feeling right now.

And you might think:

Oh, well, maybe he’s not doing it right. Or maybe he should do X, Y and Z.

Alas no, the biggest issue is actually the fact that he’s been lied to.

He’s been lied to since the day he was born.

From books; to movies; to TV shows; to the education system; to probably members of his own family; to the teachers that he knew; to the neighbors around his neighborhood; to the advertising he sees…

Everything is intentionally or unintentionally lying to him about what he needs to do to live a happy and fulfilling life on this Earth.

So I’m gonna explain to you why these lies permeate our society.

It’s very simple.

It can be summed up with one word actually, and that word is…
