Jane Goodall Life Advice

Nature lover and primate expert, Jane Goodall, PhD, was a global icon.

Yet she never would have experienced the adventures, scientific discoveries, and personal fulfillment she enjoyed in her 91 years of living, if she hadn't listened to some much needed advice from her mother.

As a child, when she told people she wanted to be a scientist, they would laugh at her and tell her that's not even possible.

"There was no expectation of becoming a scientist because girls didn't do that sort of thing, and everybody laughed at me," she shared in a speech a couple of years ago.

Luckily for Jane, she had a mother who cared and wanted her to live her best life, regardless of the lies of the patriarchy.

Here's what her mother, Margaret Joseph, said to her one unforgettable day:

"My mother said, if you really want to do something like this, you're going to have to work really hard. Take advantage of every opportunity. But don't give up."
