The Legend of Nanaue

by Sasha Tobago

On the islands of Hawaii,

there are caves

where the Hawaiian

shark god, Nanaue,

hunts for humans,

his most delectable prey.

When evening descends,

Nanaue shape shifts from

shark to friendly old man

and invites passersby

to join him for dinner

by the fire.

Those who do

are never seen

nor heard from

again.
