Original Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

Celebrate World Chocolate Day with this mouthwatering, original recipe for the chocolate chip cookie.
Invented in the 1930s by Ruth Wakefield, a chef, dietitian and proprietor of the former Toll House Inn restaurant near Boston.
Ruth never could’ve imagined her small town cookie would become a worldwide sensation. And, decades later, the official state cookie of Massachusetts!
Ingredients
1 cup, butter
3/4 cup, brown sugar (packed)
3/4 cup, granulated sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon, baking soda
1 teaspoon, hot water
2 1/4 cups, flour
1 teaspoon, salt
1 cup, chopped nuts
14 ounces, semisweet chocolate morsels
1 teaspoon, vanilla
Directions
1) Mix butter, sugars and eggs till creamy.
2) Dissolve baking soda into hot water. Then shift the flour with salt. Alternate between adding soda water and salt-flour to the creamy mixture (step 1).
3) Add nuts and chocolate morsels. Stir in vanilla.
4) Chill the dough overnight.
5) Preheat oven to 375° F (190° C).
6) Roll a teaspoon of dough in the palms of your hand, then place it on a greased baking sheet.
7) Keep adding balls, placing them two inches apart. (Around 100 cookies in total.)
8) Lightly press on each ball with your fingertip to form a flat round. (Keeps cookies from spreading a lot during baking).
9) Bake for 10-12 minutes.
10) Serve warm with milk, ice cream, caramel, etc. Yum!
